Westwood deserves a leader who will listen to residents, focus on what matters most, and deliver solutions which make our community stronger.
Deliver.
We have already caused, in a short period of time, improvements in how the Town interacts with its residents.
We forced an important public discussion and voter referendum regarding the Town’s lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust through a very well-attended Special Town Meeting.
We pressured the Select Board to change the way it conducts its public meetings and engages with residents.
This is only the beginning.
If elected, I plan to operate in a radically accessible and responsive manner.
I plan to collaborate with residents, community groups, local businesses and nonprofits, and other Town boards and committees throughout the decision-making process.
This approach will rebuild trust and increase community engagement for the benefit of our shared future.
Some Specifics.
I plan to conduct a community-wide survey to clearly identify - rather than guess or assume - resident priorities and areas of satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
I plan to revamp the Town website so that it is easier to use.
I plan to welcome new residents with new ideas to serve on Town boards and committees.
I plan to proactively communicate important information to residents in a way which is accessible and easy to digest.
I plan to increase the transparency of the annual budgeting process and find a way for residents to meaningfully participate in it, prior to Town Meeting, when it is really too late to ask questions or suggest changes. We must keep spending under control and maintain a property tax burden which is in line with similar neighboring communities.
I plan to connect with public officials of similar towns in Norfolk County to share ideas and learn how they are addressing important issues.
I am excited to see what Westwood residents can achieve by working with, and not against, each other.
